TRAVEL | Our Christmas in Garrison, NY

2020 certainly created challenges when it came to seeing friends and family, especially since mine are scattered across the east coast. We try to alternate holidays with our families since Jay's family are all very close to us and mine are somewhere between New York and Florida throughout the year.

Our initial plans, of course, fell through because of the pandemic. My brother and his wife were unable to travel. We ended up deciding to rent a house just over the CT border in Garrison, New York. A very quant little town, in a cute, old cabin; just perfect to spend the holidays.

We spent our three days there cooking, watching a lot of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and just enjoying one another's company. If you're looking for a place to get away but are still a little wary of crowds, I highly recommend checking this rental out. (If you want to venture out, it's only a 1.5 hr train ride to NYC and there are some local restaurants and breweries right down the road). The owner, Mara, is very helpful and kind and has decorated the cabin to be chic and comfortable no matter the time of year (there is a big stone patio with bistro lights perfect for summer nights).
