TRAVEL | NEWPORT, RI

I feel most at home by the water. Growing up we were always on the water all summer long; boating, tubing, skiing, tied up to friends boats just hanging out, twilight cruises around the lake. It makes me smile just thinking about it.

Which explains how I instantly felt right at home when I recently visited Newport, RI. I was warned before I got there that I would fall in love with this place, and I did.

Cliff Walk, Newport, RI

I try to plan a way to get some type of workout or at lease move a little while I'm on vacation. While doing my usual pre-vacation research, I stumbled across a stunning hiking trail along the shoreline known as the Cliff Walk. Walking along this path reminded me of walks I took along the Maui shoreline; absolutely stunning.

Downtown Newport is an adorable little area full of shops, restaurants and bars. Fair warning, the parking can be tight and a little pricier than what I'm used to.

We grabbed a few drinks at Brick Alley Pub and O'Brien's.

The Marina Pub and Cafe in the marina has amazing views and great prices. It's located right in the parking lot between hotels and the docks, where a lot weddings take place.

Aside from the Cliff Walk, my favorite part of the trip was Newport Vineyard. When I looked up a place for us to grab some lunch, I thought it might be a nice little spot. I was floored when we walking into this place. The inside is beautiful and quite large, with a full restaurant, large tasting room, store and cafe. We sat outside and had lunch with a glass of wine... I'm seriously coming up with random reasons we need to get back there as soon as possible.
