SKINCARE | 5 Products That Save My Winter Skin

Unless the weather is humid and I have a decent tan, my skin tends to look pretty dry and dull. So during the winter, I'm usually in a constant battle to get a little life into my skin, constantly loading on moisturizer and looking for a foundation that won't dry out my face.

Clean

If you have dry skin like me, I recommend cleansing once a day, at night, and follow with an intense moisturizer to sleep in. Cleansing in the morning isn't really necessary unless you have an intense workout, then use a gentle cleanser in the shower. My cleanser for winter skin is Kate Somerville ExfoliKate.

Exfoliate

I'm able to get away with more intense exfoliates in the summer but the winter weather can be a little harsh and drying causing cracks and dryness that harsher exfoliates can irritate and cause more harm than good. Daily Microfoliant by Dermoligica is my go-to for just enough exfoliation to slough off dead skin and refresh without irritating my skin.

Moisturize

If you've been a reader for a while, you know I'm a little obsessed with moisturizers and am constantly trying out new ones. I've tried everything from $5 drugstore brands to $130 creams and I always go back to this one in the winter. Yup, the drugstore one. Ponds Dry Skin Cream.

Cover

Foundation can be a little tricky for any skin type. Dry skin is tough because when it's not healthy you want to cover it up, but some foundations will actually highlight the flaws. This EXA foundation is moisturizing and full coverage.

Mask

Most masks are meant to be worn for about 20 minutes and removed but this one you can wear to bed and really get the benefits for hours to wake up with a moisturized and refreshed face. The worst thing you can do (which I used to do) is wash your face with a stripping cleanser and just go to bed. That tight, clean feeling is not good for your skin, it means it's thirsty.
