Turn that frown upside down.

No, really. Studies show that making yourself smile can actually put you in a better mood.

Every once in a while you just have one of those days... I had one today. Jacob didn't sleep last night so I got up exhausted and moody to begin with. That was followed by two terrible email correspondences from work, followed by a call from daycare and it all just got better from there.

I've been stewing. Then I thought, how the rest of my day goes in 100% up to me. So here's my plan:

RESET. Take a step back and look at the big picture. Is everything really as bad as it seems in this moment? [ hint: probs not ]

Make a plan. I don't mean a plan to resolve the problems that arose that day, they're probably too fresh and you're probably too emotional to have a positive outlook on that just yet. I mean, make a plan to enjoy the rest of your day. Even if you have to keep doing something you don't really feel like doing right now, make a decision to turn it around at least as much as you can.

Get some fresh air. Even if you just walk outside for one deep breath and go back inside, it will be beneficial.

Clean or organize something. When things seem out of order in your mind, it could help you to physically put order to something. This is my go-to when I'm upset. If I'm really mad, I could clean my whole house in an hour.

Do something thoughtless. Your mind is probably running a million miles a minute so doing something you don't have to put much thought into can be liberating, whatever that may be for you, sewing, watching TV, etc.
